PlanWerk secures $4.2 million seed round, oversubscribed by Sebastian
The founder had aimed to raise $700,000. The company describes the outcome as “a good problem to have.”
MELBOURNE, Australia, 3 March 2026 (PlanWerk Wire). PlanWerk today announced a $4.2 million seed round, six times the amount originally sought. “We went out for $700,000 and came back with an amount,” said Sebastian Klett, Founder and CEO.
The round was led by an investor Sebastian met at CapacityCon 2025, whose name has been withheld because he did not write it down. Participation came from three angel investors, one syndicate, and one syndicate’s syndicate.
The valuation was determined at a café in Fitzroy on two napkins. The second was for rounding.
“I found out about the round on LinkedIn. I’m Head of Gemini, so it’s fine. I have no notes.”
Tom Ross, Head of Gemini
Use of proceeds
The funds will be used to build the product, when there is one, and to retroactively pay for the garage. The team’s 2025 move to a suburban garage for a period of “radical simplification” was originally funded on goodwill, which has now been settled.
